Our graduates regularly earn industry accolades and develop
rewarding and stimulating careers in a wide range of areas.
careers in multimedia
These days, multimedia professionals can be found in all kinds
of industries, not just in dedicated multimedia agencies. As
the industry evolves, more and more opportunities are appearing
in interesting and new places.
Our graduates have ended up in a wide variety of roles, including
designing cars for automotive manufacturers, running commercial
web sites, creating 3D maps for the mining industry, developing
animations and games, and managing multimedia education programs
for schools.
Other graduates end up working for multimedia development houses
or starting their own multimedia businesses, while others still
take the path of the artist, exhibiting high-profile national
and international events such as CiberArt, SIGGRAPH, dLux media
Arts and Fringe.
industry awards
Our students have been recognised in the prestigious ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media)and
AIMIA(Australian Interactive Media Industry Association)awards every year since 1999. In fact we’re proud
to say that in the 2005 AIMIA awards, two of only four national finalists in the Best Student-Developed Content section were VU TAFE graduates – and one of these won the award.
In the 2005 ATOM awards VU TAFE were awarded finalist and winner in the Best Interactive Game Category, competing against
a number of professional game developers.
In the 2004 ATOM awards, two of only four national
finalists in the Best Tertiary Multimedia section were
VU TAFE graduates, and, as with the AIMIA awards, one of these won the award. Another
VU TAFE graduate’s final student project won the Best
Multimedia Learning Reference category, competing against
a number of professional multimedia companies.
Student developed/tertiary multimedia categories include all tertiary courses across the country-from Diploma level at TAFE right through to Masters or PhD at Australias most prestigious Universities.

games products.
Michael B - Flash and Motion Graphics Designer
Michael's role at the Sputnikagency company has expanded from a part-

Flash and HTML, as well as undertaking art direction and client
consultation using the skills learned at VU TAFE.
Melissa M - Web Designer

worldwide youth culture company Globe International. Melissa's talent
impressed another VU TAFE graduate who had contacted the Department
looking for a person to fill the position.
Rodney Z - Interactive Designer
Rodney studied part-time at VU TAFE while working in print design and
cartography at travel publisher Lonely Planet. With his new ColdFusion, Flash

and is now responsible for designing the intranet and three major public websites. He
also operates as a freelance web designer.
Ben S - Multimedia Designer
Ben is responsible for all web design and programming in his full-time

VU student also led to him securing freelance PHP coding and Flash
Design work over the Net for US companies.
Gina K - New Media Artist
Using the skills learned in her VU TAFE Interactive Media course, Gina
has successfully integrated new media with her more traditional
painting practice. This has enhanced her career options and has led to
